BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS
A collection of over 100 stunning islands and cays surrounded by crystal clear turquoise waters, the British Virgin Islands is an untamed beauty that is very much worth exploring.
Holidaymakers come here for the laid back lifestyle where, outside of high end hotels, casual dress is the norm. Despite this, Brits will feel very at home here as many British traditions and customs are still prevalent.
The waters that surround the island are very popular amongst sailors, and are some of the best in the world. The waters that lap at the soft, white sand beaches are crystal clear and shallow making them perfect for snorkelling and diving.
The capital of the British Virgin Islands is Road Town on the island of Tortola. It is named after the horseshoe harbour of the same name in which it sits. This picturesque inlet town is small and white houses gather around the waterfront and then dot sparsely around the surrounding hills, covered in lush greenery and forest.
As with many of the Caribbean islands, there are many festivals and events that happen throughout the year that the locals encourage you to get involved with. The biggest ones happen in August and May respectively and are not to be missed.
