Dominican Republic Temperature & Rainfall
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
A country of beaches, mountain ranges and lush mangroves, the Dominican Republic is everything you'd expect of a Caribbean destination. It is the only one in the Caribbean to share a land border with another country, sharing the island of Hispaniola with Haiti.
Most famous for it's beaches, the most popular resorts in the Dominican Republic are Punta Cana and La Romana which are both in the east of the island. Punta Cana is one of the most eastern points of the Dominican Republic and has 32km of beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters. The most well known resort in Punta Cana is called Bavaro, a lively area, just north of the airport with some of the best beaches on the island. A few miles down on the southern side of the airport is Cap Cana where most of the large luxury hotels are. This area is also well known for its large concentration of golf clubs which are great for those looking to golf in the UK winter.
La Romana is further southwest, tucked around the coast. Just outside the city is where the beaches are, in an area called Los Cajuiles. This sits on a beach called Minitas and has a marina nearby where you can sit and take it all in. Even further out of the city is Bayahibe, a quiet fishing village with some small hotels and stunning beaches.
