Cuba is very different to any other island in the Caribbean, decades of strict trade embargos mean that it has an old world feel and is a country rich with colonial history which is still very apparent in it's architecture, especially in the cities. You can see the influence the Spanish and the pirates had on everything. The streets in the cities are filled with brightly coloured buildings, classic cars and a vibrant nightlife. Partner this with the beautiful sandy beaches you expect from the Caribbean and you have a destination that is truly unique.
The capital Havana is the grandest of these cities, with large, open squares lined with big beautiful buildings and cobbled streets. You can explore and discover the history of the island from the 17th century through to the present day. Whilst Havana is the largest and more urban place on the island Santiago de Cuba is the cultural hub of the country. The second largest city in the country, it was here that Fidel Castro started his revolution and is also where the world famous Bacardi Rum began.
For beaches, the best place is the resort of Varadero. Two hours drive east of Havana and with direct flights from the UK, it is here you escape and relax on the beach. Varadero is home to large name hotel brands and smaller boutique ones. Find the holiday to suit you in Cuba.
