Cape Verde Temperature & Rainfall
CAPE VERDE
Cape Verde is a group of 10 islands located in the Atlantic Ocean, off the west coast of Africa. On the radar for those travellers 'in the know' for some time now, it is becoming more popular with the increase in direct flights from the UK, which take around 6 hours.
With long sandy beaches and new, modern hotels which have excellent facilities they are a great wintersun option with an average temperature in December of 26 degrees. Most of the accommodation is on the islands of Sal and Boa Vista but wherever you go there is a real combination of cultures with a mix of African, Brazilian and Portugese influences.
It's not just a lie back and do nothing holiday however, as there are plenty of options if you are more active. Watersports are a big draw here with surfing being very popular as it is in the 'trade winds belt'. Other options are scuba diving, island cruises, fishing or if you are more a land person then check out the salt pans at Pedra de Lume or visit the capitals of the islands such as Santa Maria or Sal Rei.
