Khao Lak is a resort that is a great alternative to some of the busier, more cosmopolitan resorts in Thailand. Located in the Phang Nga province, it was badly hit by the 2004 Tsunami, but a rapid rebuild project has seen the area develop back into its former glory.
The resort will appeal to both families and couples with a wide selection of activities and attractions. This is partly due to its location near to pristine beaches, exotic rainforests and traditional villages. The Khao LakLam Ru National Park has amazing rainforests, waterfalls and mountains as well as being home to a hugh range of wildlife including elephants, hornbills, monkeys and langurs.
If you want a bit more nightlife, then cosmopolitan Phuket is only an hour away.
